West Islanders shine at PanAmerican Games.

Canada's aquatic sports teams are thriving at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. There are a few West Islanders in the mix that have been contributing to Team Canada's success. So far, Canada has won 138 medals at the games as they sit just off the podium in the medal standings.


The Pan-Am swim team's Edouard Fullum-Huot, from the Pointe-Claire Aquatic Club, has amassed bronze medals in the 4 x 100-metre relay events.

Divers Nathan Zsombor-Murray (Pointe-Claire), Mia Vallée (Kirkland), Thomas Ciprick (Baie-d’Urfé), and Caeli McKay of the Pointe-Claire Aquatic Centre competed in events, and many medaled. In the 10m Synchro event, Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor-Murray won silver, with Zsombor-Murray continuing his silver streak in the 10m Platform competition.

As for the women, Caeli McKay and Kate Miller picked up a silver in the 10m Synchro event, and McKay won a bronze in the 10m Platform. Mia Vallée claimed a silver in the 1m Springboard and another with Pamela Ware in the 3m Synchro.

The water polo teams featured West Islanders Jérémie Côté and Serena Browne from Pointe-Claire and Beaconsfield's Jason O’Donnell. Côté had three goals in the men's quarter-final game against Mexico, and Browne scored three goals in Canada's dominant semi-final game against Brazil. The women walked away from finals with a silver medal.
