The West Island Big Brothers Big Sisters program is urgently looking for volunteers. The program is a great way to create a bond with young people and mentor them along while they grow up.

This program gives opportunities to young children who have faced adversities in their young lives. As a "Big" volunteer, you have the ability to help the children gain confidence and learn personable skills.

Some of the other skills and duties that the Big brother Big Sisters website mentions are:

  • provide a role model and a friend for the young child.

  • promote the importance of staying in school and healthy relationships with family and peers.

  • instill trust and self-confidence to make healthy decisions.

  • encourage leadership skills and independent thinking.

  • and above all, make a difference while having fun.

The mentor will have to give as little as 1 hour a week to hang out and do different activities with the young mentee. Sign up here to become a Big or sign up a little here!
