The West Island Big Brothers Big Sisters program is urgently looking for volunteers. The program is a great way to create a bond with young people and mentor them along while they grow up.
This program gives opportunities to young children who have faced adversities in their young lives. As a "Big" volunteer, you have the ability to help the children gain confidence and learn personable skills.
Some of the other skills and duties that the Big brother Big Sisters website mentions are:
provide a role model and a friend for the young child.
promote the importance of staying in school and healthy relationships with family and peers.
instill trust and self-confidence to make healthy decisions.
encourage leadership skills and independent thinking.
and above all, make a difference while having fun.
