SPVM operation seizes drugs, firearms from two West Island locations.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) recently arrested six suspects in the L'Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève, Anjou, and Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve boroughs, as part of two separate drug investigations. A total of seven firearms, 25 high-capacity magazines, and various quantities of drugs were seized during the searches.

The Narcotics Unit apprehended a 43-year-old suspect inside a dwelling in L'Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève. Searches of the apartment and a storage space in Dollard-des-Ormeaux led to the seizure of five handguns, 25 high-capacity magazines, nearly $17,000 in cash, cannabis, and cocaine.

The suspect subsequently appeared at the Montreal courthouse. He faces multiple charges, including possession of firearms for the purpose of trafficking, possession of prohibited firearms with ammunition, and possession of cannabis for the purpose of sale.
