Montreal diver Meaghan Benfeito ends her 2020 Olympics with a 4th place finish in the women’s synchronized 10m platform final alongside fellow Canadian Caeli McKay. The pair received a score of 299.16, which was just below Mexico’s Gabriela Agundez Garcia and Alejandra Orozco Loza who placed third with a score of 299.70.

Benfeito, who trains at the West Island’s Pointe-Claire Aquatic Center, also finished 13th place in the Women’s solo 10m platform semifinal with a score of 296.40.

The 32-year-old diver just came off of consecutive wins in both the World Series in Montreal and the Grand Prix in Calgary, ranking first for the 10m platform solo and synchronized dive. She also took home two bronze medals in the previous summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro.

“The end result will never define me as an athlete and there’s so much for me to be proud of throughout my 25-year career.” Wrote Benfeito in a lengthy Instagram post describing her emotions following her performance. Megan continued to say that she looks forward to seeing what the future has in store for her.
