For the 6th year in a row, a group of children accompanied by their families experienced a very special day at Montréal–Trudeau airport last Saturday, as part of the Premium Kids program, which organizes airport process familiarization days for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or functional limitations.
The 3-hour event allows children to become familiar with the airport process and reduce their fear of flying. Participants experienced the journey of a traveler through the airport, from arrival at the parking lot to enplaning and watching a demonstration of safety measures on board.
This event was organized by Aéroports de Montréal in conjunction with the following partners: Air Transat, Autisme Montréal, Giant Steps, Special Olympics, Transport Canada, CBSA, CATSA, Securitas, HMSHost and the Montréal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel.
This initiative is inspired by a similar program, Wings for Autism, created in 2011 by the Charles River Center in collaboration with the Massachusetts Port Authority (Boston-Logan International Airport).
