Homicide at the Rockland Center: the SPVM arrests the alleged shooter in Vancouver
The Major Crimes Section of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 44-year-old man in the parking lot of the Center Rockland, in Mont-Royal, on August 23. The suspected shooter, a 33-year-old man, was arrested in Vancouver with the cooperation of local authorities.
Investigators have also arrested another suspect in Ottawa, the alleged driver of the vehicle that was used in the execution of this murder. He is a 27 year old man. The latter and the alleged shooter will be repatriated to Montreal and will appear to face charges of first degree murder. Both suspects are connected to organized crime.
“The Montreal population’s sense of security was affected on August 23, when two firearm homicides were perpetrated in broad daylight, half an hour apart," said SPVM Acting Director Sophie Roy in a press release. "Today, thanks to the rigorous work of investigators and specialized teams, we are pleased to be able to confirm the arrests in connection with the first event that occurred at the Rockland Centre. As for the Saint-Denis Street homicide, I can confirm that the police investigation is ongoing and that our investigators are stepping up their efforts to resolve it,”
