The Montreal police (SPVM) have launched an investigation into an unsettling incident that unfolded in Beaconsfield. In the early hours of Wednesday, around 12:40 a.m., SPVM officers responded to a 911 call regarding a vehicle engulfed in flames on Alice-Carrière Street, near the intersection with Malcolm-Beaton Street.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the fire was no accident but rather the result of a deliberate act, raising concerns of criminal involvement. While the firefighters successfully contained the inferno and averted a blaze spreading to a nearby residence, the vehicle itself bore the brunt of the ordeal, suffering considerable damage. No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
The case has since been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad. Authorities are in the process of securing footage from surveillance cameras positioned in the vicinity. The charred remains of the vehicle in question have been carefully towed for further analysis.
