When Line Guevremont speaks about the estate of Robert Lemaire, she doesn’t just

describe it as a donation. She speaks of a commitment.

A commitment to honour the wishes of a close friend and to carry them forward into something concrete and lasting.

A few years before his passing, Robert Lemaire visited Maison du Père. What he

witnessed there left a strong impression. Beyond the services offered, he recognized a well-structured, compassionate organization making a tangible difference in people’s lives. It was a mission he chose to support, in a meaningful way.

Toward the end of his life, Robert Lemaire made a clear decision. He chose to name

Maison du Père as the universal legatee of his estate. Aware of the importance of such a

gesture, he also entrusted Ms. Guevremont with a key responsibility: to ensure that his

legacy would be managed with integrity and honoured as he intended.

“He wanted his legacy to truly help improve people’s living conditions,” she recalls.

What followed was a close and ongoing collaboration with Maison du Père team.

Through meetings, site visits, and open discussions, a relationship built on trust was

quickly established.

“The team was dedicated, competent and deeply human. I knew then that Robert had

made the right choice.”

A relationship of trust was formed, grounded in transparency, accessibility, and a shared

commitment to doing things right. Most importantly, it led to tangible results.

Today, Robert Lemaire’s legacy lives on through the pavilion that bears his name.

The Robert-Lemaire Pavilion is home to 54 individuals aged 50 and over who have

experienced homelessness. Designed for people who are autonomous but seeking

stability, the building offers more than housing. It provides a foundation for rebuilding.

Thanks to this estate gift, every studio and common area have been fully furnished,

creating a safe, dignified and welcoming living space.

Here, the impact is visible. It is felt every day.

Perhaps the true power of such a gesture is continuity. Beyond the act of giving, there is

the ability to create lasting change, even after passing.

“I can say with confidence that Robert’s wishes have been fulfilled,” says Ms.

Guevremont. “And that his legacy continues to make a real difference.”

As this story demonstrates, planned giving and legacy donations play a vital role in bringing meaningful large-scale projects to life while helping ensure the long-term sustainability of essential services for society’s most vulnerable.
