WIBCA Black History Month virtual events

The West Island Black Community Association (WIBCA) in collaboration with community partners are hosting two FREE Black History Month virtual events in February 2021.


WIBCA-Celina-book-launch-and-talk

Event #1 – Virtual Book Launch & Talk featuring Celina Caesar-Chavannes moderated by Fimo Mitchell:

February 12th 2021 @ 6pm.


In Can You Hear Me Now?, Celina Caesar-Chavannes digs deep into her childhood and her life as a young Black woman entrepreneur and politician, and shows us that effective and humane leaders grow as much from their mistakes and vulnerabilities as from their strengths.

WIBCA Celebrating Black Excellence and Entrepreneurship-event

Event #2 – Young, Gifted & Black - Celebrating Black Excellence and Entrepreneurship:

February 27th 2021 @ 6pm.


4th annual BHM event highlighting Black Excellence and this year we decided to specifically target young & talented entrepreneurs aged 35 yrs and under allowing them a space to speak on their journey offering tips and/or lessons learned stemming from experiences in their respective industries.


Zoom registration required, open to all.

Founded in 1982, the West Island Black Community Association, a non-profit organization and registered charity, is dedicated to being an integrated, vibrant part of society by extending its programs for the benefit of youths, adults, and seniors in our community, regardless of ethnic origin, color, gender, religion, or race. WIBCA seeks to relieve loneliness and isolation, to educate the public on multiculturalism, and to operate as a drop-in center for youths, providing counseling, as well as educational and recreational activities in a supervised setting.
