Video: A vehicle catches fire on the tarmac at Montréal-Trudeau airport


On Saturday, a man in charge of baggage handling, took a dangerous fall that lead to his death on the job at the Montreal-Trudeau International Airport in Dorval. An investigation was then launched by the CNESST concerning this tragic event. On Sunday, the airport confirmed that there was “a fire from the engine of a vehicle that was near an aircraft” yesterday.


“Everything was quickly brought under control and there were no injuries. The fire did not impact operations at YUL, ”assured the airport.


The incident would not have resulted in the delay of any flights.


Montreal-Trudeau airport nevertheless indicated on Twitter that a major thunderstorm system in the northeastern United States could have an impact on airport activities.


"Passengers who have a scheduled flight should check the status of their flight with their airline before going to the airport," advised the Montreal airport.


In a video posted on Twitter, flames and black smoke escaping from the back of an Air Canada plane parked on the tarmac are visible.
