The Challenge of the Brave Fundraising Event is back to support West Islanders touched by cancer.

The West Island Cancer Wellness Centre is hosting its The Challenge of the Brave fundraising event that will take place on April 29th, 2023. The Challenge of the Brave is based on the concept of "The Amazing Race" – with a few twists. The WICWC's version is just as fun, yet more impactful, as all proceeds go directly to the Centre to help people with cancer in their journeys towards wellness.

All of the WICWC's programs and services are free of charge and are created to fulfill the need for psychosocial cancer care and to complement traditional medical practices. Through wellness programs, participants will receive personal support, gain coping mechanisms, discover additional alternatives, and become better educated about their specific illnesses. In addition, the Centre will help them gain more control of their lives, find strength, reduce feelings of isolation, and continue to foster hope, regardless of the stage of their disease.

WHAT? The race will take place in the West Island, where teams compete in 10 challenges at different locations. The day doesn't stop after the race either, as raffle prizes, a DJ, and a BBQ await the participants at the finish line! Team registration is now open, and due to limited space, those interested are invited to register their team before it's too late. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for corporations, businesses, or individuals interested in supporting the cause.

Twenty-four teams will compete in challenges at ten local businesses around the West Island. This is a fantastic occasion to connect with the community in an engaging and exciting way. Each location is an opportunity to earn points and clues to the next stop. Teams are made up of four people, including a team leader and a driver. Anyone over 18 can join - the challenges are at a level that anyone can handle.

So, gather your family, friends, or colleagues and join the fun! Each team member is required to pay a $25 registration fee, and each team must fundraise $1,000 toward their fundraising goal. All proceeds from this event go directly to helping cancer patients live well with WICWC's free programs and services.

WHEN? April 29th, 2023, from 9 AM – 4 PM.

WHERE? Parc des Bénévoles, Kirkland, QC (H9J 3Y4)
