Suspect arrested in connection with May 26 shooting near Pointe-Claire bar.

Suspect Jevonn Providence, 22, has been arrested as the alleged shooter in connection with a May 26th armed assault in Pointe-Claire. He was arrested in Beauharnois less than 24 hours after the event. Searches also led to the seizure of a handgun, a high-capacity magazine, and ammunition.


He appeared in court and faces several charges, including discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault, and possession of a prohibited firearm. The investigation is ongoing for another individual who was allegedly at his side during the event.

On May 26, around 1 a.m., witnesses heard gunshots and saw two suspects fleeing on foot outside a bar at the intersection of Donegani and King Avenues in Pointe-Claire. A conflict broke out between several individuals inside the bar, which then moved outside. The victim, a 52-year-old man, was shot in the lower body. He was taken to hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.


The police investigation is being led by the West Criminal Investigation Section, with support to date from the Emergency Response Team, Neighbourhood Station 5 (L'Île-Dorval, Pointe-Claire), and the Châteauguay Police Department.
