Saint-Lazare receives recognition for greenery and sustainable development.

A horticultural awarding program called Les Fleurons du Québec recognizes municipalities and gives professional evaluation reports to improve their municipal greening efforts. This year, Saint-Lazare has obtained a result of 4 fleurons out of a possible 5 for its first participation in the program.

Les Fleurons are given out for a duration of three years. They are judged by classifiers that cover 60% of a municipality's area and assess all sites that are visible to the general public, including commercial, institutional, public, and private sites. Initiatives for sustainable development (community gardening, composting, preservation of trees, etc.) are also taken into account.

"The Fleurons du Québec is a public recognition of our efforts to enhance our environment. We are determined to continue inspiring the creation of other works, reinforcing our conviction that a green and flourishing city brings undeniable benefits to a good place to live," stated Geneviève Lachance, Mairesse of Saint-Lazare, and went on to thank the Public Works Department for their hard work.
