Police requesting info on murder in Lachine yesterday

MONTRÉAL, May 30, 2024 – The Major Crimes Section of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is seeking the public's assistance in gathering information related to the murder that occurred yesterday around 7:30 PM near a park on Roy Crescent in the Lachine borough. A mobile command post is currently deployed at the scene. Investigators will be present until 5:00 PM today and invite anyone with information or who witnessed the event to come forward.

Incident Summary

Around 7:30 PM yesterday, multiple 911 calls reported a man shot on a basketball court located on Roy Crescent near Duff Court Street. The victim, a 27-year-old man, was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. This marks the 17th homicide of the year. A command post was immediately set up and a security perimeter established to allow investigators to analyze the crime scene.

The investigation has identified a potential suspect who has not yet been apprehended. Evidence suggests that the suspect and the victim knew each other.
