The tree is trimmed, our letters to Santa have been delivered, and Jolly Ol' St. Nick (Suzuki) is putting up points faster than ever. It's the most wonderful time of the year in Montreal. Naturally the Canadiens organization turned to resident Christmas expert, Mike Matheson, to have the Pointe-Claire native create a festive playlist to serve as the soundtrack to his first Christmas morning back in his hometown since 2011.

Unsurprisingly, Matheson sleighed this task, curating a 39-minute holly-jolly masterpiece that includes Christmas classics from Andy Williams and Dean Martin to John Lennon and Bruce Springsteen. And of course, no Canadian Christmas playlist would be complete without Buble and the Biebs. No doubt the tunes will be spinning before sunrise on Dec. 25 in the Matheson household this year.

"I was always a kid who woke up really early, but on Christmas morning, it was even more so," recalled Matheson, reflecting on his childhood holiday routine. "I remember so much excitement for Christmas and waking up Christmas morning, literally, just going down and staring at the tree at 4:00 a.m. for like two hours until it was 'late enough' to wake people up. Our son, Hudson, was a little bit too young last year to understand what was going on, so this year I'm really excited to see his reaction on Christmas morning."
