Pointe-Claire elementary school wins nationwide music competition.

Pointe-Claire's Saint John Fisher Elementary School was one of the thirteen schools that emerged victorious in the 2023 Canadian Music Class Challenge.

In Category 1: Primary Vocal (Kindergarten to Grade 3), Saint John Fisher's Grade 3 class claimed the top prize with their rendition of Luke Wallace's Turning the Tide. Music educators are invited to teach their students a song by a Canadian musician each year by CBC Music and the charity MusiCounts. The victors get a plaque with their names and either $1,000 or $3,000 to spend on new instruments.

A panel of judges determined the winners. Canadian artist Victoria Duffield was amongst them and shared her comments on the students' performance:

"This video captured my ears and heart right from the opening chorus. The musicality displayed through your vocals, as well as all of your instruments, shows a great degree of skill and teamwork for such a large group, especially with it being your first time performing the song altogether!"
