Updated: Mar 26, 2023

A post to the Macdonald High School social media accounts on the morning of March 23rd notified parents that all classes would be canceled and students would be returned home by bus. In an email sent on behalf of Dion Joseph, Principal of Macdonald High School, he stated that this decision was made as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Earlier this morning, at around 8:00 am, a threat was discovered online involving the public Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue high school. Once the threat was discovered, the school administration, in collaboration with the Lester B. Pearson School Board, responded quickly. The City of Montreal’s police department was contacted and launched an investigation immediately. The police determined that the threat was unfounded; there was no threat to students or staff.

Moving forward, the Lester B. Pearson administration encourages guardians to have a conversation with their child about communicating any concerning information (discussions, social media posts, etc.) to a trusted adult in the building. Any parents/guardians are advised to communicate concerns to the school administration.

Classes will resume tomorrow as scheduled, and if your child needs support following this event, please get in touch with the school's administrative team to ensure support is provided.
