If you spotted a filming notice taped to your door this week and wondered what’s going on — no, you’re not imagining things. A TV crew has officially landed in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue… and they’re bringing Einstein with them.

But before you picture chalkboards and complicated equations, this isn’t your high school physics class.

The new series Einstein — currently filming around Montreal — is actually a crime drama with a comedic twist. Think less “E = mc²” and more “genius solves murders (while being a bit of a mess).”

At the center of the show is Lewis Einstein, the great-grandson of Albert Einstein — played by Criminal Minds fan-favourite Matthew Gray Gubler. His character is described as brilliant but wildly irresponsible, a tenured professor who somehow manages to get himself into trouble… and then gets recruited to help solve crimes. (TV Insider)

Yes — it’s basically what would happen if a genius skipped class and accidentally joined the police.

He’s paired with a no-nonsense detective (now played by Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Melissa Fumero), creating the classic odd-couple dynamic: chaos meets discipline, theory meets real life. (TV Insider)

And the tone? A mix of crime-solving and humour — so expect clever cases, awkward moments, and probably a few “how did he figure that out?” scenes.

🎬 Why Sainte-Anne?

Filming is happening at the Schluter Systems site on Chemin Sainte-Marie, with crews working long hours over several days this week.

So if you notice:

  • Bright lights at night

  • Film trucks and equipment

  • More traffic than usual

…you’re not in a sci-fi movie — just a TV set.

Montreal and surrounding areas (including the West Island) have become a major filming hub, and Einstein is just the latest production choosing the region as its backdrop. (The Cinemaholic)

👀 What to Watch For

This is where it gets fun for locals:

  • You might catch a glimpse of filming setups or even actors between takes

  • Exterior scenes and lighting rigs are being set up around the area

  • Night shoots mean things could get a little cinematic after dark

No word yet on whether any scenes will clearly show Sainte-Anne on screen — but don’t be surprised if your neighbourhood quietly becomes “somewhere else” on TV.

🧠 A Little Fun Fact

This show is actually based on a popular German series that has already been adapted in multiple countries — so this North American version has some big (brainy) shoes to fill. (Wikipedia)

So next time you pass by the filming site, remember: behind those lights and cameras is a fictional genius trying to solve crimes… and maybe causing a little chaos along the way.

And who knows — Sainte-Anne might just steal a scene. 🎥✨

I guess this is the kind of local story that makes a place feel suddenly cinematic and alive. I love when a TV production transforms an ordinary street into something people will remember for years. There is something fun about seeing a familiar town through a completely different lens, especially when the subject is someone as iconic as Einstein. In my experience, moments like this bring out curiosity in everyone, even people who normally do not care much about filming. Human life needs those little surprises. They break routine and give people something to talk about, almost the way a random search for the Daily Wire phone number can unexpectedly send you down a rabbit hole.
