🎄 How to Keep Your Real Christmas Tree Fresh All Season! 🎄
Nothing beats the look and smell of a real Christmas tree — but keeping it lush and green takes a little care. Here are some simple tips to make your tree last right through the holidays:
🌲 Before Bringing It Inside
• Choose a fresh tree — needles should be flexible and stay on the branch.
• Measure your space before buying.
• If you’re not decorating right away, store it outside in a bucket of water (in shade or a cool garage).
💧 When Setting It Up
• Make a fresh cut at the base (½–1 inch slice) before placing it in water.
• Get it into the stand within an hour of cutting.
• Use a stand that holds at least 4 litres (1 gallon) of water.
• Keep it away from heat sources like fireplaces, vents, and direct sunlight.
🌡️ Daily Care
• Check the water every day — never let it drop below the base of the trunk.
• A tree can drink up to 4 litres of water a day when first set up.
• Lower the room temperature at night to slow drying.
• Use a humidifier if your home is dry.
🎁 Decorate Safely
• Use LED lights — they’re cooler and safer.
• Turn lights off overnight or when you’re not home.
• Avoid overloading outlets or hiding cords under carpets.
♻️ After the Holidays
• Remove the tree once it dries out or drops too many needles.
• Recycle or compost it — most towns offer pickup or drop-off programs.
✨ A little attention goes a long way in keeping your tree beautiful and safe for the whole holiday season!
