CFIA Issues Egg Recall Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination in Multiple Provinces

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall of certain egg brands due to possible salmonella contamination in British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and potentially other provinces and territories.

The affected brands include Compliments, Foremost, Golden Valley Eggs, IGA, no name, and Western Family. The recall applies to eggs with expiry dates of February 16, February 22, and March 1.

Consumers are advised not to consume, use, serve, or distribute these products. Instead, the eggs should be discarded or returned to the retailer where they were purchased.

The CFIA warns that food contaminated with salmonella may not show any signs of spoilage but can still pose health risks.

Healthy individuals may experience symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. However, salmonella infections can be severe or even fatal for young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

For more information, contact the CFIA or your local retailer.
