On May 31st, Amazon Canada reaffirmed its commitment to the Lachine Hospital Foundation of the MUHC and presented a $30,000 cheque to support the hospital's modernization project. In attendance were Foundation and hospital representatives, Lachine Borough Mayor Maja Vodanovic and patients in the long-term care unit.
Teams from the YUL2 and DXT6 centres—both in Lachine—marked the occasion by handing out 140 gift sets to patients in the hospital's long-term care unit.
"The Lachine Hospital Foundation is grateful for Amazon's generous and ongoing support. The company's thoughtful gesture for patients in the Camille-Lefebvre Pavilion is a testament to its commitment to our community's well-being and health. Thanks to the support of companies like Amazon, the Lachine Hospital Foundation can raise funds to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment that isn't covered by
government budgets," says Jacques Filion, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lachine Hospital Foundation of the MUHC.
Amazon gifted Unscented Company made-in-Quebec treats to brighten up patients' days in celebration of the donation.
"Community well-being is a cornerstone of our values. We believe that the true measure of a company's success lies in the positive effects it creates. We're proud to partner with Amazon to bring what we do best to patients at the Lachine Hospital and bring some comfort to their lives," says Anie Rouleau, Founder and CEO of The Unscented Company.
Diahann Narcisse, the Learning Area Coordinator for the YUL2 centre, was there to hand the gift bags to the patients in the long-term care unit. "I'm proud to participate in this event that shows just how much Amazon invests in its community. My dad himself is a long-term care unit patient at the Lachine Hospital, which makes this initiative particularly important to me."
Amazon Canada will also take part in the 2022 Lachine Hospital Foundation Gala on June 4 to raise funds for the Dream Big campaign.
"At Amazon, we're passionate about giving our teams opportunities to give back and support the communities where they live and work," says Jean-François Héroux, General Manager of the YUL2 Center.
