A look inside the Pincourt cannabis store that opened on December 21

While we were all figuring out our Christmas plans, The SQDC Pincourt opened one of two stores set for the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region on December 21, 2020. The new location is in the Faubourg de L’Île mall on Cardinal-Léger Blvd., just off Highway 20, in Pincourt. Store hours are Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Following years of vacant storefronts in the Faubourg, the store may encourage retail traffic. The location near Ben & Florentine restaurant has its own entrance from the parking lot. The front windows of the SQDC Pincourt are blacked out to ensure the privacy of the shopper.

Upon entrance, the shopper is asked for identification to prove they are over 21 years of age. The necessary COVID protocols are in place, such as hand sanitizer and line up stickers and plexiglass.

Cannabis users can expect another location to open this spring on Dumberry Rd. just off Highway 40 near a Costco. The West Island saw an SCDQ open last February on Sources road, north of Highway 20.

In addition to its SQDC.ca website, the SQDC currently has over 40 stores. The number of stores is expected to reach close to 100 by March 2023.

The Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) is a subsidiary of the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ). It was created in June 2018, following passage of the Cannabis Regulation Act. Constituted as a business corporation, the SQDC is run independently from the SAQ.

The Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) ended its second quarter on September 12, 2020, with sales of $120.2 million, a $56.6 million increase from the second quarter of the preceding fiscal year.
