6 best takeout pasta restaurants in the West Island, according to you

A few weeks ago we surveyed the West Island Blog Facebook community and asked them to share their best pasta takeout recommendations. Dozens of suggestions came in. At the West Island Blog, we are supporters of local businesses. Shopping local is very important to us. This is pretty important food information after all. We needed to try your suggestions so we could be sure. It was a hardship for the West Island Blog team to try all that delicious pasta goodness but we did it for you! ;).We all had our favourites but chose to let you be the final judge of the best pasta in the West. We welcome any suggestions that we may have missed in the comment section of this post.

Cugini's Pizza Cafe

Cugini's is the "Cheers" of West Island Italian food. Everyone really does know your name. Germano and his team make you feel at home the second you walk through the door of their tiny establishment. The pizza is second to none and the pasta is exceptional. Germano made us a typical pasta dish to savour. The taste brings you back in time and takes you thousands of miles to the streets of Italy that are lined with cobblestone and aromas that have your mouth watering. The fresh basil and traditional sauce just scream authentic. Take out is quick and easy at Cugini's. We set a time the day before and it was ready and waiting for us to pick up. Delivery is a hit and miss, I prefer to pick up to make sure I have my dinner when I want it.

Why you'll love it: Made fresh, traditional Italian Location: 275 Ave. Elm, Beaconsfield, H9W 2E4 Price: $$

La Serenata

This West Island landmark is owned by family friend, Angelo Colicchio. He gives of himself in every dish he serves. He has been feeding my family for as far back as I remember. He is a family man and our sons have been on the same hockey teams over the years. La Serenata offers a wide array of typical Italian recipes. Picking up pasta requires a little notice but it is worth it. Delicious!!! From pasta to meat dishes to risotto you will not be disappointed. They have an extensive Italian wine selection. The team is very accustomed to catering large events and much like many of our choices in this article, they give back to the community whenever they can. Tucked away in Dollard, don't miss this family-run eatery. They are closed Sundays.

Why you'll love it: Made with love !!! Location: 53, boul. Brunswick, Dollard-des-Ormeaux Price: $$

Whether you choose to eat in or take out, Pastamore is a great option for those who want a quick and easy meal. The selection is homemade and your order can be made to your taste on the spot. A fast casual Italian restaurant offering fresh homemade pasta and sauces, they also offer a grab and go section with oven-ready meals to make life easier. They make their fresh pastas and sauces on site from scratch the old fashion way. You can watch them through the window. I always like knowing a restaurant has the confidence to let me see their kitchen. Pastamore is a very well run and clean establishment. They delivered their takeout to us in boxes and sent plastic cutlery. They can handle large orders with very little lead time. They have delicious salads and cannolis to round out a Super bowl Sunday or an impromptu family dinner. They have gluten-free pasta as an option and all of their sauces are gluten-free however they cannot guarantee that there is no cross-contamination. Each order comes with an Italian roll and butter and you can get cheese and hot sauce on the side for an additional fee.

Daniel and I fell upon this new little West Island gem on a Saturday afternoon in December. From pasta to signature sandwiches you can't go wrong here. They also have specialty coffees and cocktails. As for takeout, I have to admit, this article started because of this restaurant. I love it when a new restaurant opens for us to enjoy and I felt our local restaurants, new and old, needed a shout out from the West Island Blog. After all, if we don't support these wonderful options we will lose them. The pasta of the day is up to the chef, every day is a new choice. The sandwiches bring me straight to Italy in one bite. The basil is everywhere. That smell alone is enough to have me drooling. A great new lunch choice. Check the hours before heading over as they are still adjusting to their customers' needs. Full trays of lasagna are $65 and feed 12 people. They don't do garlic bread but you can order their focaccia on the side.

Why you'll love it: Centrally located, Authentic Italian chef Location: 3595 Blvd St-Jean, Dollard-des-Ormeaux Price: $$

Deli La Trattoria

This spot is iconic. Plain and simple. If you have not checked it out, you must. This locally-owned establishment opened its doors in 2004 and has never let us down since. Fresh and delicious homemade pasta, deli-style pizzas, meatballs, sandwiches and pastries are all consistently available 7 days a week. I can often be found picking up pasta and sandwiches to fill my teenager's hungry appetite. Staff is friendly and they are often found donating to causes in our community. You can pick up homemade bread and specialty cheeses too. The "Trat" has a large assortment of baked goods, such as biscotti, cannolis, the seasonal zeppole (custard or cream). I love knowing this authentic Italian deli is so close to home, it makes for a quick and easy meal made with fresh ingredients. The Trat can cater to any event you may be having, from corporate to casual. They have it all.

Scarolies Pasta Emporium

I had no idea about Scarolies. It is celebrating 21 years. I don't know how I missed it having lived here my whole life, but I have. Incredibly tasty and authentic describes this local well-known establishment. They showed up with way more than the West Island Blog team could manage but we gave it our best shot. A favourite among the team, the pasta choices were varied. They offered bread and cutlery to make takeout or delivery an excellent choice. They have an extensive menu. The menu offers all of your favourite pasta dishes: spaghetti meat sauce with meatballs, lasagna, linguine pescatore and veal parmigiana just to name a few. They also offer gluten-free options. You can even enjoy their sauce in Mason jars for those days when you just want to whip up your own. The local owners and staff were extremely friendly and they delivered to Sainte Anne De Bellevue. If you want to be part of their V.I.P. email list you simply have to sign up on their website, giving you a chance to win a dinner for two. Make sure to check out the “light menu” served at lunch from 11:00am to 2pm, prices start at $12.85. There is a weekly table d’hôte for lunch and dinner. Bread is included with all takeout meals. They also have family takeout meals that can feed a family of 4 and they have a catering menu. Please call 24 hours in advance for catering orders. Their homemade sauces are always available for pick up and it includes a baguette. Scarolie’s is pick up only, no delivery.

Les 3 Soeurs Bols

You are not a true West Islander until you have eaten at Les 3 Soeurs. I have been following these sisters around for years. Literally. I am a cheerleader for their Thai Chicken wrap and seem to always order it leaving me a little blind to the pasta delights they offer. As it turns out they are great with pick up pasta. They brought us a rose sauce pasta that was second to none. The restaurant offers fresh ingredients, vegan salad dressings, many gluten-free options. With brunches and themed evenings. These ladies know how to cater to your corporate or family-style events. They can tailor a menu to suit your specific needs.

Why you'll love it: So many dishes, heated or not. Giving back to the community. Location: 3693 Boulevard St-Jean, Dollard-Des Ormeaux, Quebec H9B 2K4 Price: $$

I like to cook, but because I work a lot, I don't always have time for it. That's why I often order food from DoorDash. This program makes it easy to order something delicious right to your home. The ordering and delivery process is usually smooth. Many customers appreciate this and leave positive comments in the doordash reviews on this page. Fortunately, I haven't had any problems with them yet, so I hope that everything will be fine in the future.
