Île-Perrot/Pincourt rescue team commended for saving dog.

Last week, the Pincourt/Notre-Dame-de-L'Île-Perrot (NDIP) Fire Safety Service received a 911 call for a dog that was stuck under a concrete gable at a NDIP residence. The cocker spaniel had been stuck under the cement steps for a few hours and desperately needed to be rescued.

The Service de Sécurité Incendie (SSI) Pincourt/NDIP's Technical Rescue Team was deployed, and the animal was rescued with no injury. Technical rescue teams are trained to use various types of equipment (hydraulic jacks, pneumatic nailers, shovels, tridents, tape measures, etc.) to rescue victims in three situations: confined space, structural collapse, and excavation and trench rescue.

Sidney the cocker spaniel's owner expressed her gratitude to the first responders:

"Thank you to all the emergency crew who worked so hard to save my little Sidney. Without the efforts of our local fire department/emergency crew, Sidney would not be here today. A profound thank you from our family."
