West Island representation at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics

There is a remarkable group of 215 athletes on Team Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics! With 57 of those athletes being from Quebec, there are 4 athletes on the men's ice hockey team representing Montreal's West Island.


Maxim Noreau the 34-year-old from Montreal had played for the West Island midget AAA Lions in 2003-04 and went on to play as the assistant captain of Team Canada at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in 2018 winning the Bronze medal. This year's Olympics, Noreau will serve as team Canada's assistant captain hopefully winning us a medal once again!


Mark Barberio a 21-year-old from Kirkland will be attending his first Winter Olympics this year. He had previously played in the NHL for multiple teams including the Tampa Bay Lightning, Colorado Avalanche, and even the Montreal Canadians.


Jason Demers the 33-year-old from Dorval has played for 11 NHL seasons and will be joining Team Canada once again on the 2022 Winter Olympic Team. Demers played on Team Canada in 2017 winning a silver medal at the IIHF World Championship.


Devon Levi from Dollard-des-Ormeaux has gotten a lot of attention leading up to his time on Team Canada at the Beijing Winter Olympics. The 20-year-old goalie played for the Midget AAA team with the Lac St-Louis Lions and gained the title of "league’s best prospect" in 2019. He then was the starting goaltender for Team Canada at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championships winning the Best Goaltender Award.
