The À-Ma-Baie Solidarity Market is the result of community and citizen mobilization to improve access to fresh food for all. It operates according to the "pay what you can" formula. Less fortunate clients contribute what they can for their purchases and pay the suggested amount when their budget allows it.
The primary goal is to make fruits and vegetables more accessible, both to people on low incomes, and residents in better economic circumstances. All fruits and vegetables sold at this market are grown by producers within a 30-kilometer radius of the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Borough.
This market is set up in partnership with the VertCité and Corbeille de Pain organizations. Carte Proximité food stamps are accepted as payment.
VertCité is a non-profit organization that creates, accompanies, and manages environmental projects on the Island of Montreal and runs the Éco-quartier programs in the boroughs of Saint-Laurent and Pierrefonds-Roxboro, according to their website.
Corbeille de Pain is a non-profit organization on the West Island whose mission is to offer a variety of activities that promote the accessibility, availability, and affordability of healthy foods, as stated on their webpage.
