When art, community, and generosity come together, something truly special happens — and West Island-based artist Samson is at the heart of it.

Samson, a graphic designer and portrait artist, is recognized for his ability to capture the spirit, energy, and character of his subjects. His Portrait Collection Series — a dramatic blend of color, texture, and expression — brings musical legends to life on canvas.

This year, two of his large-scale portraits — The Beach Boys and The Damn Truth — will be up for auction at Strangers in the Night’s 20th anniversary gala on Saturday, June 21st in Montreal. Each piece, rendered at 72” x 36”, bears the autographs of the respective bands, adding a unique layer of authenticity. All the proceeds from the auction will directly aid medical care for sick children and support programs for underserved and disadvantaged communities.

Samson’s artistic career spans decades. His background includes extensive animation work with the National Film Board of Canada (ONF) and 15 years with Mattel (Mega Bloks). Currently, he’s a proud member of the Lakeshore Association of Artists (LAA), where he contributes to the rich arts scene in the West Island.

Through his art, Samson not only expresses creativity — he helps make a measurable, positive impact. His ability to blend artistry with compassion stands as a powerful example of the role art can play in strengthening our community.
