Humanity: An Unbreakable Bond

In a time when the world needs to come together and support one another, some people have fallen into old habits of dividing communities, possibly without recognizing it. What these people do not realize is that they are hurting themselves as well as others. We may look back on the history of humanity and see “good vs evil,” but what you have to keep in mind is that a lot of people, on both sides, thought that they were on the “good” or “right” side. There may be some truly malicious people out there, but the good far outweighs the bad. This has been proven time and time again when people set their differences aside and band together to make it through disasters and hardships.

In most cases, people are only trying to do what they think is best for themselves and their loved ones. Some may not educate themselves with scientific-based evidence before speaking out, which is dangerous in it and of itself.

We are given two choices in this life, we can either choose to be a beacon of hope and light spreading positivity with our words and actions. Or we can, sometimes without realizing, choose to spread negativity and hatred, which alienates others.

The key thing to remember here is that each and every last one of us is the same after all is said and done. We are all human beings trying to make the most out of what can sometimes be a confusing and constantly changing life. We all adapt, in different ways albeit, to suit the life that is before us. The beautiful thing about sharing a commonality is that we are all connected no matter how different you may think we are. Now that we have established that every last person on the planet has common ground with you, and me, let’s talk about shared experiences. Have you ever had to overcome adversity? Have you ever fought for someone or something that you love? Have you ever gotten frustrated about an injustice you witnessed? If you have made it this far in life, chances are that you have experienced one, if not all, of those things and so has everyone else whether they read this article or not.

Opposing sides are not always in opposition. Sometimes, it’s miscommunication and misunderstanding mixed with a dash of fear-mongering thrown in by oppressive forces relying on the division of an otherwise unstoppable force. That unstoppable force is us, by the way. It’s the people of the world coming together united as one to tear down tyranny once and for all.

Here’s the best part, if we open up lines of communication, patience, and compassion where hatred and anger once lay we can let the smoke clear and see that what we want isn’t so different after all. Instead of spewing venomous hate out of our mouths and through our keyboards, let’s pause to regroup, and think of an alternate way to approach whatever the problem at hand is. It’s easy for things to get twisted, like a worldwide game of telephone. No matter what happens, remember that we are all human after all.
